Spoon has shared their take on The Beatles 1967 fan club single Christmas Time (Is Here Again) for Spotify Singles: Holiday Edition 2021. The collection marks the fifth year of Spotify Singles: Holiday and includes a wide range of covers and originals, from artists across a myriad of genres, in hopes of connecting friends and family from afar as they listen.
Recorded at Jim Eno’s Public HiFi studio in Austin, frontman Britt Daniel says about the track, “Recording ‘Christmas Time (Is Here Again)’ was a group effort that pulled us away from rehearsals and quickly sent us down a turbulent path of what you might call the Christmas spirit. And it’s our song with the most band members doing vocals ever – pretty sure I’m counting four. THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS IS OVER.”
Norah Jones has released a joyful new video for Christmas Calling (Jolly Jones), a heartfelt original song from her first-ever holiday album I Dream Of Christmas, which is out now. The video, which was directed by Isaac Rentz and produced by Isaac Rice and Brien Justiniano, follows Norah on a merry excursion throughout Brooklyn. Over chiming piano chords, she expresses a deep desire for holiday cheer and companionship. “I wanna hear the music play / I wanna dance and laugh and sway / I wanna happy holiday for Christmas.”
Norah has been a steady voice of warmth and reassurance for nearly 20 years since her cozy 2002 debut album Come Away With Me became a familiar musical companion for millions of people around the world. Now the 9-time GRAMMY-winning singer, songwriter, and pianist has released I Dream Of Christmas, a delightful and comforting collection of timeless seasonal favorites and affecting new originals that explore the complicated emotions of our times and our hopes that this holiday season will be full of joy and togetherness.
“When I was trying to figure out which direction to take, the original songs started popping in my head,” Norah says. “They were all about trying to find the joys of Christmas, catching that spark, that feeling of love and inclusion that I was longing for during the rest of the year.”
Pop superstars H3RIZON, consisting of Bernadette Marquez (Bernie), Tiara Nyuzo and Gabrielle Montalbo (Gabby), have announced their gorgeous, festive new single, One More Christmas, a poppy, RnB-influenced bop about longing for that special someone during the holidays. The girls, who have amassed nearly 2 million followers on TikTok, have also announced a sparkling, joyful video to accompany One More Christmas. After their previous singles Serious and Maniac exploded online, racking up hundreds of thousands of YouTube views over the last year, it’s clear that H3RIZON are here to take over the world, one harmonised whistle tone at a time.
Taking inspiration from their idols Mariah Carey and Donny Hathaway, H3RIZON have truly created a brand new Christmas classic with this sweet, nostalgic yet modern tune. One More Christmas features classic harmonies from these three extremely talented vocalists, as well as all those adlibs and runs we’ve come to expect from watching hours of their hugely popular TikToks. Speaking on the unexpectedly poignant inspiration behind the RnB, pop flavoured Christmas banger, the group explains, “The incredible inspiration behind this song is our songwriter Raquelle Gracie’s bittersweet story about her late father. She shared with us that her dad passed away a few years back and that she wrote this song thinking of all the things that reminded her of him at Christmas. And just as we’d love to connect with someone we missed but couldn’t be with, she’d want one more Christmas with him. We have so much respect for her penmanship and we’re so honoured to be able to deliver her story within this song.” It’s certainly a beautifully layered song, with several meanings and interpretations that can be taken upon multiple listens; and it’s sure it be a comfort to anyone missing someone this Christmas.
The sweet, touching video for One More Christmas is a celebration of all the good things that the festive season can bring – and overcoming hardships along the way. The H3RIZON girls each play a different character with a different experience of Christmas time, as they explain, “The video clip is based on a lot of Christmas nostalgia… being reminiscent of the past and being grateful for the memories you and your family and friends shared over the years during Christmas. In the video, we all have a certain story with our characters and the bittersweet moments in the lives they lived. We worked really closely with the production team to be able to bring certain vulnerabilities to the storyline and really bring it to life.”
Dylan J (FKA Dylan Joel) initially made his name as a rapper, but if you ask him, he’s always wanted to spend more time belting out hooks. That meant putting in the work, including enrolling in a relentless, military style vocal training boot camp, which resulted in a newfound understanding of the dynamism and flex in his voice. Dylan commenting “Man it was crazy, you had to commit upfront to ten weeks before they’d even consider letting you in”.
Dylan j rings in the festive season with his cover of Last Christmas…
It’s Almost Christmas In Philly is a gleaming highlight taken from Gretta Ray’s triple j ‘album of the year’ and ARIA nominated album, Begin To Look Around. A stripped back version of the song, accompanied by a stunning acoustic version of the album track and reimagining of River by Joni Mitchell. This release of Christmas tracks marks the tail end of a stunning album campaign and breath taking 12 months full of hairbrush singable pop splendours. Yet this release shows Gretta’s strength for stripped back sonics & hushed vocals – just in time for Christmas!
“Christmas is right around the corner, so I wanted to give a nod to the Christmas-themed song on my album, ‘It’s Almost Christmas In Philly’, by recording a stripped back rendition. It’s a song about driving through North America with my dear friend Sam while I was opening for Gang of Youths in 2018. It’s the most folky sounding song on Begin To Look Around, and with this version I wanted to hone in on that even more.“
Last year, MAJESTICA released their new album A Christmas Carol as a wonderful Christmas gift for the whole metal scene. It’s pure symphonic power metal in the true MAJESTICA spirit along with elements inspired by the likes of TWILIGHT FORCE, RHAPSODY, ALAN SILVESTRI, DANNY ELFMAN and JOHN WILLIAMS.
The band release A Christmas Carol – Extended Version, that is not only available on vinyl, but also finally completes the story surrounding the grumpy old Ebenezer Scrooge with two new songs.
The band comment: “It’s time to complete the ”A Christmas Carol” story with our new single ‘This Christmas’ and the release of ”A Christmas Carol – Extended Version”! ‘This Christmas’ is an up-tempo song that has a bit of all the elements you can find on the album. Strong chorus, duo vocals, big orchestration, twin guitars and all the Christmas feeling that you need. Finally there will be a vinyl version of the album, many asked for this last year and we really felt that it has to be released on vinyl this year!”
The holiday season is just around the corner and Byron Bay siblings, The Buckleys have released their ‘Studio 54’ inspired take on the Christmas classic, Boogie Woogie Santa Claus.
After another year of challenges and lockdowns, The Buckleys decided to end the year on a high note and re-created a Christmas classic with their own unique Rock n Roll twist – Boogie Woogie Santa Claus. Boogie Woogie Santa Claus was originally released in 1948 by Mabel Scott and most famously performed by Patti Page in 1950. The Buckleys chose the Christmas classic for its uptempo, fun, dance vibes and feel-good beat to bring everyone a Rockin’ Christmas!
“We are so excited to release our fresh new spin of a 1940s holiday classic! Ten years ago, we used to perform a “Rockabilly Christmas Special” as a young family band and this was one of the songs we used to play. To now be releasing it as our first official Holiday single, infused with Rockabilly, Swing, even hints of Surf Rock guitar and a 1940s style brass section from Nashville, is a dream come true.
We wanted to give Christmas a whole new sound with this song and make it feel both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. It’s been a tough year for everyone and as we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now, our goal is to get people feeling good and having a boogie with us to celebrate this wonderful time of year!” said, Sarah Buckley

On December 24th, in the tragic year of 1914, in the middle of a cold night: After 6 months in the muddy trenches, the war still hasn’t come to an end and on Christmas Eve, the soldiers were missing home even more than on any other day and started quietly singing Carols. Although an official truce was declined from the governments, an eerie silence haunted the empty battlefields on the morning of December 25th. That was when the British and German soldiers slowly crawled out of their trenches to wish each other a merry Christmas, take photographs, play games and even exchanged a few gifts.
In this animated story video, SABATON depict this one-of-a-kind event during the First World War that should later be known as Christmas Truce. The brand new video was unveiled during the band’s ongoing Christmas Advent Calendar on their social media channels and website.
“This is the story of the Christmas Truce & this is why we wrote our latest single”, bassist Pär Sundström comments. “We now give you a different way of experiencing our music and the history behind it!”

Scott said “To go behind the scenes of any iconic musician’s music video is one thing, but to do it dressed as, and starring as… Santa! Then to have the opportunity to sit next to Norah at the piano as she let out those soft, silky smooth lyrics to ‘I Dream of Christmas’…I was clicking my fingers out of time because I was so in awe.”
