BALL PARK MUSIC Release New Single ‘Sunscreen’

Tis’ the season. Ball Park Music season! Almost to the day, last October the Brisbane band delivered us their now acclaimed 3 x ARIA Award nominated self-titled studio album. Here we are, 26 October 2021 and Ball Park Music share a brand new single titled Sunscreen to ensure the soundtrack to our Summer is set.
Recorded and produced by the band, Sunscreen is the first fruit from Ball Park Music’s newly re-located Prawn Records HQ studio digs in Spring Hill and marks the start of an inspired period of writing and recording from the band.
“This is a classic example of what I like to call a patchwork song,” said Sam Cromack on writing Sunscreen. “From nowhere, and for no particular reason, you suddenly assemble a song from all these unrelated sketches that you haven’t been able to finish. Songs like this always make me nervous because I get lured into thinking that perhaps they’re inauthentic; that there’s no theme or through-line. But songs like this are cool, they work in a mysterious way. Their fragmented lines come from all over your mind to congregate and share some special message that’s been dying to get out. Sometimes it feels fateful even. This song was like a slap in the face. It said, ‘Hey bozo you’re hopelessly addicted to your phone. Time to put that shit down!’. So, here it is. Sunscreen. Protect yourself out there!”
Sunscreen is the first new music since the release of Ball Park Music which debuted at #2 on the ARIA Album charts. The album was nominated for AIR Awards Independent Album of the Year, the J Awards Australian Album of the Year and took out the crown for the Queensland Music Awards Album of the Year.
Just announced last week, Ball Park Music has also been nominated for 3 ARIA Awards including Best Independent Release, Best Rock Album and Best Australian Live Act. Their single Cherub from the album has since amassed upwards of 7 million streams and landed #4 on the 2020 triple j hottest 100.
