Phil X needs no introduction, having been an integral full-time member of Bon Jovi since 2016. Phil and his band The Drills recently released their latest single Right On The Money in June 2020. Now they are back with a brand new single “I Love You” On Her Lips, out now via Golden Robot Records.
“I Love You” On Her Lips features Phil X on Guitars & Lead Vocals, Daniel Spree: bass & backing vocal and Gary Novak: drums. Gang Vocals by Steve Ferlazzo, Joe Lester, Matt Starr and Marq Torien (Bullet Boys). “I Love You” On Her Lips is TOTAL Drills.
“A hooky, energetic, big guitar punch in the face with wit & a little silliness. Everyone knows someone who says one thing & feels another. This is that with a twist.” – Phil X
Australian 4-piece punk act Under The Influence have dropped their new single Moon Flavoured Magnets via Riot Records. Moon Flavoured Magnets is the follow up to recent singles Body Parts and the acoustic version of fan favourite Propaganda Leaks.
Whilst the title comes across as being psychedelic, this track is far from it. It is another storming hardcore flavoured punk track. Under The Influence continue to deliver a vicious and intense punk arsenal that is gaining them a global fanbase.
“Welcome to Kins brain. It’s infused with mushrooms, madness and wisdom but we’ll let you decide… This is a mystical magical poem I wrote to Mother Nature. Touching on human greed, space, time, pollution and disrespect. Sadly, most humans are on a self-driven vendetta. Without a care for what really matters or anything that’s connected to the natural world. The only hope I see for mankind is to reconnect to the moon and oceanic currents by the only way I know, magic of course. That’s what this song is about…. Magic.’’ – UTI on Moon Flavoured Magnets
Hookers & Blow, the now legendary project formed by longtime Guns N’ Roses keyboardist Dizzy Reed and Quiet Riot guitarist Alex Grossi, recently hit the studios last year to record a covers album that will be released in 2021 via Golden Robot Records. Now the band have dropped the fifth single off the album, a cover of The Zombie’s Time Of The Season, via Golden Robot Records.
Time Of The Season follows the release of the singles Shakin’ (Eddie Money), Rocks Off (Rolling Stones) and Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie) and Trampled Underfoot (Led Zeppelin)
“We love the Zombies. Great band with a great name led by the incomparable Rod Argent and his keyboard wizardry. Time of the Season is an iconic song with a timeless message. It was our intention to try and honor them and all of that. To help get the word out and share the burden as well as the fun, the lovely Nadja picks up the lead vocals on this one.” – Dizzy Reed
GHOSTS OF SUNSET have been a revelation since appearing on the scene in 2020. They are proving that there is still a hell of a lot of life left in the hard rock/hair metal scene. Their 80’s Hollywood styled hard rock has caused quite a stir with their recent three singles Miles In-Between and Never Goodbye (both well over 100,000 Spotify streams) and Another Rock N’ Roll Show which is not far behind.
Their latest single Headed West (once you’ve become the biggest bands in your hometown, the only next logical step is to take it to the proving ground that was the 1980s Sunset Strip) hit the airwaves on Monday and now the day has come for the Headed West EP to be released.
Their debut EP Headed West is a 6-track concept EP based on the 1980s rock/hair/metal scene, by Ghosts of Sunset, featuring John Merchant (ex- Dutch Henry) and Todd Long (ex – The Verve Pipe). It takes a fictional US midwestern band, their move to LA, and the rise and decline as the industry itself changes. They also invited a list of L.A. rock royalty to appear on the EP.
Among those who appeared on the EP are: Tim Mosher (Junkyard), Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns), Bruno Ravel (Danger Danger), Adam Hamilton (ex-Tuff), Brian Roth, Patrick Kennison (Lita Ford), Johnny Monaco (Ex Enuff Z’Nuff) and Kent Slucher (Luke Bryan).
2020 was a big year for burgeoning Canadian punk-tinged rockers King Bull. They released 3 cracking singles in Pay Attention, The Depender and B-Side Baby, they then dropped their long-awaited new EP What Happened Here? in October via Riot Records.
King Bull encompasses 70’s rock and punk with an angsty vibe and some earthy streetwise riffs and powered by a punk-tinged, rock-ignited fuel. Fired up by intricate licks, buzz-cutter guitar tones and uniquely edgy vocals, they cover what is great about rock music.
Now they have released the official video clip for B-Side Baby. B-Side Baby backs up King Bull’s reputation of impressive musicianship and ingenious riff-writing capabilities in a fresh rock hit. B-Side Baby is a superb track that dives from garage fused punky rock to an incredible Guns N’ Roses styled crescendo. This could be the track that defines King Bull, it is ready made for arenas.
Dynamic Canadian hard rock trio The Jailbirds have dropped a brand-new single I Will Move On. Released via Golden Robot Records, I Will Move On is taken from the band’s upcoming 5 track concept EP. 2020 was a big year for The Jailbirds having built a strong global following and earning a place on the prestigious Spotify Hard Rock Playlist.
I Will Move On sees The Jailbirds back at their origins – heavy, modern hard rock, with loud and aggressive guitar tones, soft, crisp acoustic and clean guitars, with powerful thrashing drums, eerie vocals and chilling harmonies.
I Will Move On is the last song on the EP, and the last part of the story. It again follows the same character, rising up above the negativity in their life and gaining the confidence to keep on going.
Cousin Betty is the brainchild of Australia’s Damien Stofka a guitarist/songwriter, who has created riffs and written songs for Molten Universe, Death Mattel, LITTER and various other projects for the last 15 years. Cousin Betty today release their second single, Tape Hiss, via Golden Robot Records.
“When we were jamming this one, I just remember the energy it had. It really needed to be celebratory and communal – something that people would want to sing out load together. I thought of examples like Kiss ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll All Night’, Queen ‘We Will Rock You’ and Twisted Sister ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’. While we discussed those and other examples, it occurred to me that I couldn’t think of anything contemporary – since ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ perhaps, that was as much of an anthem. That’s when I decided to just make it about a period of anthems in general.” – Damien Stofka
Hailing from Denver, Colorado MESSIAHVORE are set to release their self-titled album via Coffin & Bolt / Golden Robot Records on 26th February.
“MESSIAHVORE’s first album release features 9 tracks. All the music was recorded live in studio and then the vocals and some extras added after the fact. We were stoked to have tracked all in the same room with one another and bring the music with the natural energy, feedback and volume of our live performances.
The recording was done in Denver in our own commercially run studio known as “The Crash Pad” Bart, the guitarist and singer engineered the recording. We simply set up and test tracked, locked in the tones and let it rip. The results speak for themselves. We are proud of our first effort and are looking forward to sharing it with all the heavy music fans of the world.
Lots of density on this debut release. Thick guitars and bass combined with saturated vocals. Catchy hooks but not overly commercial. The Last Word is an epic instrumental that supplies ambient vibe for days. Betrothed hits hard and is either about overbearing control or Vampires. You can make the call. Cult Worship is one of our favorites and Doublecross starts out with some Sabbath vibe then moves into desert rock territory. MESSIAHVORE mixes elements of groove metal, doom, stoner rock and a bit of industrial to complete the sound.”
Hailing from Brighton and Hove in the UK, Naipia combine indie, rock and pop genres, leaving audiences with addictive hooks and melodies etched into their minds. Naipia have created a lot of noise in the UK and beyond with their recently released singles Lonely and Tightropes. Now they’ve released their next single Bluestown via Golden Robot Records and it might just be their best track yet!
“Bluestown is a song that has had a few different forms through its lifetime before it finally sat comfortably in Naipia. The song was written in a time of self reflection whilst feeling the weight of guilt I had on my shoulders after receiving a life changing process. I was looking into the way I would pair myself with someone who was willing to walk the knife’s edge and make mistakes with me. Essentially I was subconsciously going out of my way to create relationships with women who through their own pasts/habits would feed into mine, leading to a downward spiral eventually for both of us.
I felt an immense level of responsibility for my actions, but by the time I did, it felt too late in some ways. So this song for me was a note to myself that I recognise that person in me, but it isn’t me. I won’t be deluded by glamorisation of drugs with the thought of them making me feel free and I won’t ever put someone else in situations to feed that part of me that I recognise.” – George Dewhurst (Naipia)
New Rule is the debut EP by Melbourne dirty / sleaze rock band The Mercy Kills. Written and produced in 2010, this five-track release has strong elements of the four members influences, with elements of post-punk, grunge and rock ‘n’ roll. TMK are proud that it stands strong, alongside the music they have produced over the ten years since.
Initially New Rule was only available as a short run of CD’s and was never officially released. The band have always felt this as a thorn in their side and are now happy to see it getting out there through Golden Robot Records and will be released on 12th February.
Fall is the post-punk inspired song is about trying to keep in control of your life, while things feel like they are falling apart around you. This high energy track has always been a favourite between the band members and is still relevant to them today.
