Keep Jive Alive Announces, JIVEaoke

Following the incredible and overwhelming support for the Keep Jive Alive Pozible campaign, organisers can finally announce JIVEaoke, an in-person live music fundraising event celebrating one of Adelaide most beloved venues, Jive.

Over the past 20 years Jive’s owner, Tam Boakes, has been instrumental in nurturing and developing the Adelaide scene from the venues home on Hindley Street. Offering countless South Australian bands, the opportunity to kickstart their music careers.

As a dedicated small capacity live music venue, Jive has been hit hard by COVID-19 and, being a dedicated live music venue, it hasn’t been able to pivot by offering food or alternative venue arrangements, and has been weathering the ever-growing financial stress on the beloved Adelaide venue and owner.

To help keep Jive open, a small collective of Adelaide’s music community banded together to deliver Keep Jive Alive; a Pozible crowdfunding campaign created in support of and in consultation with Jive Owner Tam Boakes, which has currently raised over $60,000.

JIVEaoke, to be held on Monday January 25 at Jive, is the culmination of the Keep Jive Alive fundraising campaign and will be an unforgettable event where the South Australian music industry will gather in support and celebration of the culture and support that Jive and Tam Boakes has worked tirelessly to create and maintain over the past two decades.

JIVEaoke will be led by the ‘Save Jive Five’, featuring renowned Dusty Stephensen, Annie Siegmann, Aaron Nash, Kevin Van Der Zwaag and Libby Verrall, taking up the reins as the house band supporting some of Adelaide’s biggest names in music, who will take the stage to belt out some of your favourite songs, new and old, with guests to include:

Ben Marwe (Bad//Dreems)
Ray Dalfsen (West Thebarton)
Paige Court (MANE),
Max Savage,
Johann & Facey (The Beards)
Alana Jagt,
Stellie
Stu Patterson (The Empty Threats)
George Alice
Jess Johns
Ollie English
Chris Panousakis & Bree Tranter (Siberian Tiger)
Luigi Donnarumma (Cat Lucky)
Ricky Albeck (The Belair Line Band)
Katie Wright (Mum Friends)
Ruby Gazzola (Oscar The Wild).

“The campaign has been absolutely phenomenal; it’s been truly heart-warming to see the industry and community come together and throw all their support behind such a great cause. But the one thing everyone really wanted was a live show. It was really hard to pick a few bands to play, so we thought why not ask everyone, and create a true party atmosphere! These are all acts that have long been part of the Jive family, and it’s so exciting to see them all performing together, I honestly can’t wait for this show”
