Beks Releases Debut Single “Stars In My Eyes”

Inspired by a new era of music and songwriting, Beks releases her debut single Stars in My Eyes and delivers a quirky music video, capturing the struggle for balance in a life ruled by a fantastical obsession with music.

Stars in my Eyes is an indie-pop track that showcases Beks rich vocal tones and progressive song writing. With a swelling bass, layers of melodic vocals and velcro accents and beats, the single echoes similarities heard from artists such as Caroline Polachek, Sophie and Allie X.

“The idea of having ‘Stars in My Eyes’ connects me to the playful innocence of my childhood. The dream I’ve had of performing and singing has stayed with me into my adult life and I wanted to create a film that embodied the feeling I’ve attached to that dream, the longing, but not yet realised adaptation that is true to my current state as a ‘developing’ artist. The light, ethereal type angel, the glamorous mermaid and the fearless daredevil. The angel is set in a rundown fairgrounds ride yard amongst dandelions, the mermaid sits on a led lit coral sprout and the daredevil rises on a forklift, balancing on the beams 3 meters in the air without a harness in heels. I created the film in a day with Sydney director Murli, who I’ve worked with before, capturing these fantasies in 4K and VHS footage” – Beks.

Produced by Tasker, Stars In My Eyes was written at Fear and Loathing studios in Sydney, during a songwriting session between the pair who met on Sydney’s punk rock scene. Upon leaving the session, Stars in My Eyes set Beks on an intensified song writing journey, collaborating with artists and producers throughout Australia and the UK, which she has encapsulated in her upcoming mixtape. The mixtape, set for release in 2021 features co-writes and production by Taka Perry, Jim Eliot (Ladyhawke, EAST), Xira, Cam Nacson, Tasker, Lucy Neville, Nina Jirachi, Kim Moyes (The Presets), Airports, Clara Fable and more.
