The longer this pandemic goes the more and more we continue to crave this need for live music. All bands and artists are in a similar position and some have been able to make it work like Ian Moss who has released live that will no doubt satisfy Cold Chisel fans, Ian Moss fans and music fans in general.
Live was recorded in 2018 in support of his self-titled album showcasing “Mossy” at his very best capturing some awesome live cuts from his shows at Canberra’s Playhouse and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre. What would have topped this off is a DVD to accompany this to fully appreciate the visual splendour of the show. Nevertheless, there’s plenty to enjoy here with solo singles Tucker’s Daughter and Telephone Booth. You can definitely feel the crowd’s energy when Cold Chisel songs are played in the set with most notable being My Baby, Choir Girl, Bow River and Never Before which if you have a look on YouTube there is a live film clip recorded on the Sydney leg on the tour. Stellar!
Ian Moss’s solo work stacks up well live also and is equally impressive. His debut solo album Matchbook has some really good set staples with Out Of The Fire and Mr Rain still proving popular. Even his latest self titled album has some great moments with Broadway and If Another Day (Love Rewards Its Own) featuring prominently on the live recording. Mossy still rocks and until the rescheduled dates happen this satisfies that urge just nicely.
