Hatchie Releases Final Video From “Keepsake”

Following on from the release of recent singles Without A Blush, Obsessed and tears-on-the-dancefloor slice Stay With Me comes the gorgeous new single & video for Her Own Heart from Hatchie’s J Award-nominated album, Keepsake, released in June this year.

“With this being the final video from my album, I wanted to close the year with something natural and stripped back in comparison to the studio sets and intense lighting we’d worked with for earlier releases. ‘Her Own Heart’ is about moving forward and being happy with yourself, so we thought the video should just be me, happy and alone.” – Hatchie

On Her Own Heart, Hatchie presents a radiant jangle-pop gem that puts a singular twist on the post-breakup narrative. “I’d seen people in my life go through breakups and end up with no idea what to do with themselves,” she says. “I wrote that song from the point of view of a girl who winds up on her own and embraces having to figure out who she is, who doesn’t let her life get turned upside-down like that.”

Keepsake is a culmination of what’s been an incredible two years for Hatchie. After exploding onto the scene in 2017 with the breakthrough debut single Try, Hatchie caught the attention of music fans and critics around the globe, before following it up with the exceptional dream-pop hit, Sure. Both tracks, alongside the Sugar & Spice, Bad Guy and Sleep formed Hatchie’s striking debut EP Sugar & Spice (May 2018) – a release that garnered widespread acclaim from international music media, including NME, Stereogum, The Line of Best Fit. Popjustice, Wonderland, The Guardian UK, triple j, FBi, Spotify, Apple Music, Purple Sneakers, VICE, TheMusic and more, with Pitchfork dubbing Hatchie the “dream-pop idol of tomorrow”. Locally, 2018 also saw Hatchie win the coveted Levi’s® Music Prize and sell out her Sugar & Spice (EP) tour.

2019 has already been a huge year for Hatchie, with the band touring non-stop across the world. Locally, as well as her own sold out tour, Hatchie supported the likes of Beach House, Death Cab for Cutie and Kylie Minogue in Australia. Elsewhere, the band embarked on a UK/EU tour, which included festival sets at Primavera & Heartland festival and sold-out London & Manchester headline shows. Off the back of a 30-date tour with Girlpool in North America in April/May, Hatchie headed back to North America for an extensive 18-date headline tour of her own.

KEEPSAKE is out now on limited edition milky clear vinyl, CD and digital services, and is available here.
