New Single & Tour For Fergus James

Fergus James is an artist with 10 million streams to his name, across just three colossal singles! The singer-songwriter sensation releases brand new single Mistakes & announces details of his debut EP All Of The Colours, which will be released on Friday 1 November. To celebrate the highly anticipated release, James will be taking the EP on the road for a headline tour that will see him play Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this November.

Mistakes is a moody and gentle track produced by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Alex Lahey, Ali Barter) that explores the relatable theme of relationship mistakes and a lover’s lost love. After James’ first session with Dawson, he left with one chorus, a verse and a sense of doubt for where the track would end up. But after Dawson sent through a demo of the track, James’ tune quickly changed. “The massive acoustic drive of Oscar’s production matched with the storyline of the track, made me incredibly passionate about this song,” he explains.

With a heartbeat tempo and intricate guitar riffs slowly building tension under enchanting lyrical storytelling, Mistakes hits its peak with a classic Fergus James belter of a chorus that ropes you in and demands your undivided attention. Fergus’ commanding vocals guide us through a narrative of overcoming heartbreak and reflecting on betrayal in a relationship. A masterful layering of vocals tug at the lingering question ‘Why’d you go?’ This is powerful storytelling that sparks the undeniable talent from an artist beyond his years.

Mistakes follows emotional ballad Back To Life and the uplifting and infectious What Are We Waiting For, which both received huge support at Spotify, Apple Music and triple j, with the latter landing the #1 most played song on triple j over summer and the top 10 most played to date on the station for 2019. Both singles will appear on James’ debut body of work.

All Of The Colours explores clear thematic and sonic threads for the young artist, those of the change and growth that have weaved into his life, in particular over the past two and a half years. “Each track showcases a unique insight into my ever-changing world and approach to music, an overview of all the colours that make me who I am,” explains James. Across five solid tracks, the young artist has enlisted the experience of some of the biggest names in Australian music production. Along with Dawson, Pip Norman, Joel Quartermain, Edwin White, Xavier Dunn and Dustin Tebutt have all lent their excellence to Fergus James’ rising star.

Having recently supported Meg Mac on her sold out 13 date Australian tour and showcasing at Australia’s leading music conference and festival BIGSOUND, Fergus has been turning heads with his electric live performance and natural stage demeanour. From selling out debut headline shows this March in his hometown of Armidale as well as Melbourne and Sydney there’s no question as to why Fergus was handpicked by Ed Sheeran to open the Australian leg of his record-breaking 2018 Divide tour or won the triple j Unearthed 2019 Splendour in the Grass competition to open the main stage of the festival.

From strength to strength, Fergus’ raw talent is undeniable – catch the teenage troubadour at his headline EP shows next month!
