Elephant Sessions To Play WOMADelaide

2017 has been a remarkable year for fiery five-piece Elephant Sessions. The band who hail from the Highlands of Scotland and who met at the Newcastle University Folk degree have exploded onto the indie folk scene with unparalleled effect.
The band’s critically acclaimed debut album, The Elusive Highland Beauty, amassed wide radio play across BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6. The release of their award winning album All We Have is Now in June 2017 was followed by live appearances at some of Europe’s most notable festivals. Audiences crowd surfed their way through the summer and marquee floors broke under the weight of bouncing fans.
Elephant Sessions are a musical powerhouse, welding weapons grade grooves and guitar attack with quicksilver fiddle/mandolin melodies. The group fuses rich folk and trad influences with funk, rock and electronica in an instantly captivating, progressive, visceral blend.
Charting in the French download charts and selling bucket loads across Europe, All We Have is Now has firmly established the band as completely unique.
Since being named ‘Up and Coming Artist of the Year’ at the 2014 Trad Awards, in just a few short years the group have become renowned for breathtaking live shows throughout the UK and Europe, taking the festival scene well and truly by storm with appearances at Glastonbury, Denmark’s Tønder and a sold out headline show at Celtic Connections 2017. Closing the year with sell out shows across the UK, the band just picked up ‘Album of the Year’ at the BBC Scots Trad awards.
2018 promises to be no different and opening the year with a show at the world renowned Celtic Connections festival, the band head over to Australia in March for what will be a debut tour of some of the nations most respected festivals.
