TEG LIVE is proud to announce two of our best Australian performers are confirmed to appear as special guests on the upcoming Alison Moyet Australian tour. Katie Noonan will appear at the Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane shows, while Steve Balbi will appear in Adelaide and Perth.
Katie Noonan is a 4 x ARIA Award winning and 7 x platinum selling songstress. She first came to prominence, earning critical praise, as the angel-voiced songstress of indie-pop band George in the late 90s and has since taken audiences on sublime excursions through Jazz, Pop and Classical music. Her musical versatility and unique voice make her one of the most recognizable and loved voices in Australian music.
Steve Balbi has a reputation not only as a beautiful singer / songwriter and an unparalleled front man but also has a loyal following. His songs, grounded in real life, have left audiences across the globe gasping for breath. He has transcended generations in acts like The Electric Hippies, Noiseworks, Universe, Move Trees, Mi-Sex and recently in a new band called Moon.
Alison’s most recent single THE RAREST BIRDS – the 2nd single from her new album OTHER – is out now. Alison describes The Rarest Birds as a song she has dedicated to LGBTQ people and to the community in her adopted city of Brighton, England.
“’The Rarest Birds’ is a paean to LGBTQ, to Brighton, to coming out after the darkest nights into the arms of those that delight in your flight. From me to you,” Moyet says.
“I am especially looking forward to performing it live in Australia during this important time for the LGBTQ community and to give my support for equality and gay marriage. As part of my Australian tour I shall be playing Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne. As I am now up to date with the actual Ms Court’s issues, I would like to take this opportunity to say – Let’s stuff the venue with gayness. Let’s make it plump with Gay.
Let’s fill the hall like gayness never occurred to anyone anywhere.
Say it loud, say it clear. Margaret made us gayer.
That kind of thing.
Up the Gays!
Love Alf xxx”
Alison recently performed at the Glastonbury Festival where her performance received high praise from media and fans alike. “Alison Moyet was simply unbelievable” said The Guardian. Her performance included songs from her new album and some of her much loved older tracks including Nobody’s Diary, Whispering Your Name, Only You, All Cried Out, Love Resurrection and Don’t Go. The Glastonbury performance hints the upcoming tour will feature some of the very best songs from across her 30 year career.
Alison also performed at the Isle Of Wight festival in June this year. Watch her hypnotic performance of All Cried Out…
