Casey Donovan, singer, songwriter, actress, writer, television host and most recently, winner of the 2017 season of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, returns to her first love – music – with the release of a new single – LONELY. This new track will be released independently on the 19 May.
Lonely is the first single from a new EP that is scheduled for release in the 2nd half of 2017. This crowd funded release, entitled Off The Grid and Somewhere In Between will feature six original tracks, written by Casey Donovan and producer/friend Daniel Skeed.
“I can’t wait for people to hear what I’ve been working on in the studio. It has been a long while coming. After finishing up with We Will Rock You late last year it dawned upon me that I really wanted to get back into writing my own music and I really wanted to make that my main focus. With the help of my kickstart campaign it was all made possible,” said Casey.
2017 has so far proven to be one of the most memorable in Casey’s life. Beginning with her six week stint in Africa and seen almost nightly on Australian televisions, Casey’s warmth, humour and raw honestly made Australia fall in love with her all over again. Casey came back to Australia the winner of the competition and determined to go back into the recording studio and work on her first love – writing and recording new music.
“It has been 10 years since I released my first independent Ep “Eye 2 Eye” and I am so excited to be able to share this with the Australian public,” said Casey.
Casey Donovan was the youngest ever winner of Australian Idol, when she took out the title in the second season (2004). She was 16 years old. Over the last twelve years, Donovan has made her mark not only as a musician, but also in the areas of stage, screen, presenting and writing. She has headlined her own Mama Cass tribute concerts and supported Cyndi Lauper on her 2011 Australian tour. She has appeared in some acclaimed stage productions including The Flowerchildren, As You Like It and The Sapphires. Most recently she played the part of Killer Queen in We Will Rock You to rave reviews across Australia.
Music and performing has never been far from Casey’s heart and her recent performance at the 2017 TV Logies showcased to Australia just how dynamic her stage presence and vocals can be. She received a standing ovation from the audience for her an acoustic performance of David Bowie’s We Can Be Heroes.
Last week Casey was announced as the new Down Down ambassador for Coles Supermarkets.
