Asta National Tour

Boasting an immediate add to triple j rotation, Asta’s iridescent funk-pop gem ‘Shine‘ is, undeniably living up to its name. Today, the effervescent musician announces the release of her long-awaited debut EP Shine (out Friday February 17) and huge national tour across five States and two Territories.

From that momentous piano chord that kicks off latest single ‘Shine’ it’s apparent that Asta’s debut EP is a confident step up. This fierce new audacity continually emerges throughout the five track offering in a glistening display of self-assured pop from the former triple j Unearthed High winner. Courtesy of a new writing and production collaboration with Melbourne based wunderkid Yeo and an emerging writer who goes by the name Aurelia, Asta has flipped her original brooding acoustic pop sound on its head. The result? A debut EP teeming with confidence and life.

Now 22, Asta feels as though she’s finally found her sound. “Having been discovered in high school by triple j, I had to do some living before I had enough to say for a debut EP. I think I’ve scrubbed enough dishes, eaten enough tofu and broken a few hearts now to deserve a party. ”

Asta was just 17 years old when she took out triple j’s Unearthed High in 2012. She has since released a string of singles including two triple j Hottest 100 charting hits, ‘My Heart is On Fire’ (#50, 2012) and ‘Dynamite ft. Allday’ (#47, 2015) and impressed with a soulful rendition of the Whitney Houston classic ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ for triple j’s Like a Version. No stranger to the stage Asta has multiple packed headline tours, festival spots including Falls Festival and Splendour in the Grass as well as high profile shows alongside the likes of Ellie Goulding. Arguably one of the country’s most powerful emerging live voices, an Asta show is an infectious euphoric experience not to be missed this February.
