Indie-Grunge Outfit Oscar The Wild Return With New Single ‘Ghost

Continuing the momentum from a breakout 2025, Kaurna/Adelaide rock quartet Oscar The Wild unveil their new single Ghost – a track that builds on the band’s signature indie-grunge style while thematically toeing the line between healthy affection and emotional dependency.

Inspired by Hanne & Thea – two characters in Hannah Kent’s historical-fiction novel DevotionGhost asks the question: “how attached is too attached?”, as vocalist Ruby explores themes of dependence and attachment through lyrics splashed over walls of dense guitar work, a commanding rhythm section and glistening vocal harmonies that make it feel quintessentially Oscar The Wild.

The release follows a breakout year for the band, who performed to a packed crowd at Harvest Rock Festival, took home Best Group at the SA Music Awards and – arguably their biggest achievement to date – opened the stage for global powerhouses AC/DC alongside Amyl & The Sniffers.

Produced and mixed by Jarred Nettle (Teenage Joans, TOWNS), Ghost has quickly become a staple of the band’s live set, building on their increasingly evolving sound – from the dark, murky waters of 2024 single Big Think and rowdy crowd favourite, She’ll Be Right.

To celebrate the release, Oscar The Wild headline their first hometown show in nearly a year on April 11 at Nexus Arts, with support from Meanjin’s Worm Girlz and locals, Destinezia. The launch follows an impressive run of shows, including support slots with The Buoys and Sly Withers, plus a sold-out acoustic show at West Torrens Library in Adelaide.

Just nine months after their mini-EP Blue and following a year of industry acclaim and relentless touring, Oscar The Wild are proving themselves to be one of Australia’s most unstoppable and hard-working rock bands.
