Murder, She Didn’t Write @ The Gosling at Gluttony, Adelaide 3/3/2026

Murder She Didn’t Write, the murder mystery that you, the audience, help control the narrative! All the way from London’s West End, it’s the Australian debut at the Adelaide Fringe in Gluttony. It was a packed audience, and everyone was ready for the ‘choose your own adventure’ like show hosted by murder mystery sleuth and best detective of the 1930s, Agatha Crusty.

Miss Crusty needs her trusty detective assistant Jerkins and who better experienced than someone from the audience. Yes, its one of those shows where the audience participates and I just loved it. The unpredictability and spontaneity always means guaranteed hilarity. No different on this night.

A Jerkins was anointed by the throwing of the hat…note; beware of flying hats! The rest of the audience were invited to make suggestions which will be used as part of the show’s narrative. The cast used them for comedic value and cleverly weaved these suggestions throughout the show.

Tonight’s show themes were barefoot grape crushing,15cm tiara, forest bathing, second weddings and third husbands. Weird, yes. The weirder the suggestions the better! This cast were amazing in their ability to react and respond with hilarious results. Even when the unexpected dropping of a prop making a loud bang during change of scenes resulted veering off script (even though there wasn’t a script!) turning it into a monologue about a gun going off, that’s how good these actors were!

With constant mentions of the audience suggestions throughout the show, plot twists and turns, spontaneous and unpredictable shenanigans, eventually it was all brought together in a riotous wacky end of who dunnit and why they dunnit!

It’s a quick witted, fast paced thinking dialogue show that had us all in stiches! The fun and chaos are in YOUR hands!
